Day 3

This accursed Monkey.

I was wrong. I have never been wrong. I am a God. I had given him a chance at working his way up and earning higher ranking in Heaven. He was going to be my right-hand. I no longer have any hope left for this Monkey.

After we sent him to the stables to be the care-taker for the horses he somehow found out that being the care-taker is the lowest ranking in Heaven. The purpose was not for him to be offended, he was to work his way up and earn every ranking he received.

I held my court today and the head of the Stable informed me that Monkey had complained that the job was beneath his greatness and returned to earth. This time I did not want to compromise. I had to take action. So I sent Viasravana, Natha, the Mighty Magic Spirit, the Fish-Belly general, and the captain for Yakashas and troops to arrest him.

I descended to witness the arrest. Perhaps the battle.

It seemed as if Monkey had already assembled his own troops of wolves, tigers, and bears. I saw the Mighty Magic Spirit tell Monkey’s subjects to inform him of their presence and of their intentions to arrest him under my orders. As soon as Monkey was informed, his first reaction was to retrieve his weapons. He was ready for war, but so were my troops.

He was asked to submit to my command, but he refused. Saying that he deserves the title of “Great Sage, Equal to Heaven.” How delightful. He also said that if I do not grant it to him then he will come destroy my castle.

The Spirit became quite angry after seeing the title that Monkey wanted, so he struck at Monkey’s head with his axe. Monkey was too quick with his reflexes, he blocked the attack with his staff. The fight that followed was one of the best I had seen. Regardless, the Spirit lost the good fight.

Natha was sent next. This fight was even better. Natha’s six weapons turned into a thousand. So did Monkey’s weapon. It was like every attack that Natha threw at Monkey, Monkey managed to reciprocate. Eventually, Monkey was able to strike Natha in the shoulder and, yet again, won the fight.

I rose back to the Heavens as I could no longer watch this. Even if Vaisravana were to fight Monkey, he would not be victorious.

Vaisravana did not fight Monkey, instead he came to me to explain what had happened and asked for heavenly reinforcements. I already knew what happened but I shall not show that I am giving special attention to this monkey.

I demanded that the army be sent to slay Monkey. I no longer want him to be living and causing chaos on earth. It was at that moment that Planet Venus stepped forth and presented a more peaceful solution. Venus always knew how to keep me calm in situations like these. His solution was to give him the title “Great Sage, Equal to Heaven,” because we do not know the extent of his powers, but we do not have to believe that he is deserving of the title. It was only to satisfy Monkey and keep him from causing anymore chaos on earth. Keeping him in the Heavens would help us keep a closer eye on him, and this time he was closer to us as he will receive a higher rank. It will be easier to observe him.

I sent Planet Venus to invite Monkey in a way that will convince him that we truly do think that he is deserving of a higher rank in Heaven.

A few minutes had passed by and Planet Venus walked through the gates accompanied by Monkey. “I hereby proclaim you Great Sage, Equal of Heaven,” I said. I do not believe it. This Monkey is very gullible, I must say.

After the passing of several days, time in which Monkey got to enjoy himself, wonder around the Heavens, and make new friends. I did not like that he was roaming free, so I decided to give him a job. He was to look after the Peach Garden. That way he would be under the supervision of other workers while also being efficient.

If you think that I am wrong to give Monkey another chance, you must read what comes next.

  1. I appreciate the cool/calm and serious tone of the Jade Emperor, because I feel like that embodies his character. I think it would’ve been more of a “blog” if you balanced the Emperor’s thoughts/commentary with the actual events, but overall, good job!
