Kuan-yin: Blog 3 (final)

Dear Diary,

Rules to remember:

Rule 1-Succeed.

Rule 2- Refer to rule 1 in times of despair.

It has been some time since my honorable journey of enlightenment first began. Buddha has signified the importance of bringing enlightenment to the four continents. A disciple would be needed to preach the message of Buddha to the humans who may misunderstand the scriptures. The role that I have taken on as a Bodhisattva is for the betterment of the people. I have yet to reach a state of full nirvana to help the poor souls still suffering, so of course I volunteered to assist the Buddha in whatever way a humble soul like I may.

My journey has been met with the tribulations that the Buddha spoke of. Horrendous monsters attack quite frequently. As instructed by Buddha, I convert them into disciples. My bodyguard Hui-an and I came across a water monster by the River of Flowing Sands. After Hui-an tirelessly fought to no avail, the monster revealed himself to have been a Marshall of some sort to the jade emperor who banished him for breaking a cup. It seems to me that the jade emperor might need some spiritual enlightening as well…

Anyways, the monster agreed to help us in our journey and became the Sandy Priest. As the days progress I remind myself of rule number 1, succeed. I cannot take on a role as important as this and fail. I will not allow it. As Buddha says, the universe bares the path and the cycle of life continues. Materialistic items in this world have no purpose in my heart. Rather, I take full pride in self made success. There is no room for error in my quest.

When we reached to the steep mountain valley in the realm, we were greeted by an angry and hideous monster. He pounced towards me but (thankfully), Hui-an stepped in as my line of defense. I threw the power of the lotus at the monster and he backed down, realizing the situation. He too, happened to be a banished ex-Marshall. He joined us on our mission as Pigsy. The heavens will assist those who help themselves.

Our band of converts reached a dragon serving out retribution for having done wrong deeds. I just knew I needed the support of that dragon so I begged the jade emperor to let him assist our group. He agreed and I decided it’d be best for the dragon to assist the new-coming disciple directly. And then it happened…that monkey.

We arrived at the mountain of five elements. The place the great Buddha imprisoned the reckless monkey for 500 years. I’ve heard legends about this monkey. I knew this monkey was always up to no good. If I was to free the monkey, it would be when we have the disciple and we are able to focus on the task at hand. Thus I did not free the monkey. He will have to wait.

As I write to you now, our group is coming up on the Capital. I have faith that the universe brought me here for a reason. I have faith that success is near. I have faith that the Buddha’s message will reach every corner of the earth. Here in this capital, I *WILL* find a messenger. The universe bares the path. I shall succeed and write of my success in the near future.

-Yours Truly, Kuan-yin
