That Damned Monkey- Roni

Dear Diary,
As you know, I am the most powerful of all, reigning above everyone on earth, living and nonliving. My subjects all fear me because they know I have the power to steal their souls at any given moment. But what they don’t know, is that I actually really don’t enjoy my job.
I really regret putting myself at such a high position sometimes, watching over people can get quite boring, especially when I know I’ll end up dealing with people like Monkey, that are so disobedient. That damned monkey is always stirring up trouble with no regard for anything except his immortality. Anyways, I need to rant about him: yesterday, I was sitting on my throne listening to music and eating – basically living my best life, when suddenly I get a call from my judges saying that we needed to meet to discuss a situation regarding Monkey.
Monkey’s latest disturbance had been his offensive behavior towards the Jade Emperor. He’s so foolish and annoying, sometimes, I wish I could just pull the plug and take away his soul so that I won’t have to deal with him anymore… but, that’d be too much paperwork. I always hear him talking to everyone about how badly he wants to become immortal like the rest of us, high class gods, yet he’s really asking me to take his soul with all his trouble. First, he decided to declare himself “the Great Sage Equal to Heaven” which really got us fired up. Then, when we gave him a chance and give him a good enough job, he completely ruins the peach banquet by eating all of the peaches. Do you even realize how many years it took to grow them? And after that, I had to watch him get drunk and continue causing trouble – it’s so stressful. Do you see what I have to go through?! He’s not going to live much longer if his behavior continues…
– Sincerely, Yama

  1. I like how you discussed boredom from Yama’s perspective. It really adds a lot to the blog and makes it more relatable. It also gives insight into Yama’s perspective and feelings. However, was Yama really aware of Monkey stealing peaches from the peach banquet? Despite the few minor mistakes, you did a great job, Roni!

  2. Well done Roni! I like the way you talked about Yama and how cocky he is not just to himself but to others. Really accurate on his feelings and how he is as a person. Good job Roni!

  3. this was very clever and well thought out. I liked the attention to detail when portraying yama’s personality as a very cocky person with little care for others. It seemed very funny in some parts esp. regarding his feelings to monkey. Good job!
